The wedding invitation is the first impression your guests get of your upcoming wedding. It’s not only a practical source of information but also an opportunity to express your personality and the style of the event. To make your wedding invitations unforgettable, I have summarized the most important points that your invitation should include below.
The most important information should be clearly visible on the invitation. This includes, of course, the names of the bride and groom, the wedding date, time, and venue(s). Make sure that this information is easily readable for all invited guests (don’t use too small a font!) and stands out from other text elements.
The rest of the invitation text can be formal, funny, or informal, depending on the tone you prefer for your wedding. You can use traditional wording or let your creativity run wild. The important thing is that the text makes guests feel welcome and appreciated.
An RSVP date (or even a separate response card) is important and crucial for creating an accurate guest list, collecting acceptances and regrets, and possibly passing this information on to your venue or caterer. This can be an email address, phone number, your postal address, or even a wedding website.
If there are specific instructions or information that you need your guests to know, such as dress code (colors, style), gift preferences, or special activities during the wedding, add this information to your invitation. Food intolerances and allergies should also be asked about. Additionally, you can directly recommend hotels to your guests or point out already reserved room blocks.
If you want to give guests a more detailed insight into your day, you can also include a schedule with the most important program points.
Make sure to keep the text short and concise, and not to overwhelm guests with an information overload.
I am happy to support my wedding couples with the right wording and give tips on what content must definitely be included in the invitation.
